Asim Shahjahan

What and where did you study? What was your final Grade?

Computer Engineering at the University of Toronto. I did fairly well in school (grades approx. ranging 70 - 98, my peak rank was about 12th out of 180 some students). My areas of specialty were software courses and project based courses.

What do you do now? (Tell us about your role and what you do ie responsibilities).

I am in charge of all Physics (ball, net, environment) and Collisions (player-player, player-environment, player-ball) for all Next Gen (PS3 and XBOX 360) soccer titles (FIFA, EURO, Champions League, World Cup). I'm also involved in running the studio wide Physics group where we work together to share knowledge and run workshops.

Why did you come into gaming?

I've always been a huge fan of video games so I thought this would be a natural fit for me. Also, I had heard a lot the relaxed atmosphere and challenging work involved with working in the video games industry. I enjoy being challenged so I thought that this would be a great opportunity for me.

Why EA?

I've always been a fan of EA Sports titles dating back to when I was a kid playing NHL '94 with friends on the Sega Genesis. I am a big fan of sports in general, so having the chance to work for EA and get the best of both sports and video games was a dream come true.

What are your future ambitions?

Short term (1 year) become the lead of a small team. Medium term (3 years) become the Technical Director for a team. Long term (7 - 10 years) run or help run a game studio.
