EA Los Angeles (EALA) is based in a state-of-the-art, custom-designed campus in the Playa Vista
section of West LA, within walking distance to the beach.
EALA is home to world-renowned franchises, including strategy games in the Command & Conquer
and The Lord of the Rings series, as well as first-person shooters like Medal of Honor series
and Tiberium. EALA is also home to EA's collaborations with master film director and storyteller
Steven Spielberg, including the action-packed puzzle game Boom Blox for the Nintendo Wii and a
forthcoming "emotional" action adventure game.
The EALA studio was originally founded in 1995 as DreamWorks Interactive. In February 2000,
DreamWorks joined the EA family and became Electronic Arts Los Angeles. This team was later
fused with Westwood Studios and EA Pacific to become the word-class studio that exists today.
EALA is also home to EA TRAX, the groundbreaking music initiative led by music industry
visionary Steve Schnur, and EA Mobile, which develops a host of the world's most popular
mobile titles including Tetris, FIFA Soccer, Need for Speed,
SimCity, Harry Potter,
Tiger Woods PGA TOUR Golf, Block'd, The Simpsons, Casino Blackjack,
Pictionary, Scrabble, The Sims and Skate, to name just a few.
Pandemic Studios
EA Pandemic is a premier developer, with a deep portfolio of top-selling, critically acclaimed games.
Joining EA in 2007, Pandemic operates out of a shining 50,000-square-foot studio near the UCLA campus
in dynamic Westwood, California. Just outside the door is an abundance of great restaurants, shopping,
nightlife, and some of the best movie theaters in America. Within easy driving distance are West Los
Angeles, beach communities, and LAX airport.
Over its nine-year history, Pandemic Studios has established a reputation for producing award-winning,
cutting-edge, original games. Notable Pandemic hits include sales-record setters Star Wars
Battlefront, Star Wars Battlefront II, and three original Pandemic-created IPs
(Mercenaries, Destroy All Humans! 1 & 2, and Full Spectrum Warrior). Pandemic is
currently developing a number of new, original titles for next-generation platforms,
including Mercenaries 2: World in Flames and Saboteur at its studios in Los Angeles
and Brisbane (Australia).
Pandemic believes in a work hard, play hard philosophy. The studio provides many outlets for
recreation, from movie nights and monthly game tournaments to road trips to local landmarks
and attractions, including theme parks, museums, and even whale-watching voyages. Many of the
more competitive spirits find expression on the nearby basketball courts or on Pandemic's soccer
team. There are also parties, dinners, evening poker games, and even an occasional D&D game.
Recreation helps to fuel creation, and the bonds formed in casual settings outside the office
truly support the team dynamic within the studio.
